About SJPO

The Singapore Junior Chemistry Olympiad is a competition organised by the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry (SNIC) since 2010 for Sec 3-5 or IP2-IP4 students. It is held in partnership with NUS, NTU, SUTD, IMRE and ISCE2 and supported by MOE. There are 2 rounds to the competition:

Consisting of 50 MCQ questions, each with 4 options, students are tested on various theoretical concepts over 2 hours.

The top-scoring students (typically up to 20%) from Round 1 will be selected to compete in Round 2. Participants have 2 hours to answer open-ended questions based on contexts provided by short videos.
